The series 3850N Calibrators are low-cost, battery-operated, handheld single parameter precision instruments designed for sourcing as well as measuring mV, mA or ohm signals. They are derived from our field-proven series 853X calibrators for cost-effective calibration of a select subset of a variety process control instruments and systems.
A series 3850N instrument is designed with field-proven circuit blocks using low-power integrated circuits and operates on one 9V dry OR Ni-Cd cell. The battery voltage is monitored to provide low-battery indication. An exceptionally stable source provides continuously variable precision mV or mA or ohms output signals with two ten-turn potentiometers. A precision measuring circuit with an aged reference and a 3½ (4½) digit A/D converter provides a stable display with excellent repeatability. A self-check facility establishes correct functioning of all circuit blocks.
The Series 3850N instruments offer standard range options for user convenience and can be used in the laboratory or taken around the plant for in-situ calibration of instruments and loops. They are targeted to cover specific types of process control instruments and are suitable for mass calibration jobs in Manufacturing, Commissioning and Field Maintenance. Models with mA output can also be used as transmitter simulators (or current regulators) in 2-wire loops with loop power of upto 30V DC.

POWER SUPPLY SPECIFICATIONS
The Models 38500, 38501 and 38504 can work with a dry cell with a reasonable life span for infrequent end uses. The life span will only be about 1~2 hours for Models 38502 and 38503 for current outputs from the instruments. However, they can be used with loop power with life spans of more than 4~5 hours. Option D is suitable for all Models.
